This recipe was created when my mom and I began searching the pantry and went “hunting” for ingredients to create something new!

7-oz. pkg. macaroni & cheese, uncooked

10-oz. pkg. frozen peas & carrots

4-oz. can mushrooms, drained

2 c. cooked ham, cubed

1 onion, chopped

In an ungreased 2-quart casserole dish, combine dry macaroni with cheese packet. Add butter and milk as directed on the package. Stir in remaining ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Serves 4.

Browning meat for a casserole dish? Often it can spatter, so if there’s no spatter guard handy, a large sieve can do the job... just place it face down over the food cooking in the pan.
