A yummy mix of ingredients I grew up loving. Now I make it for my family & friends.
1 lb. sausage link, sliced
1/4 c. onion, sliced
1 stalk celery, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1/2 c. long-grain rice, uncooked
4-1/2 oz. pkg. chicken noodle soup mix
2 c. hot water
1/2 c. slivered almonds
Combine sausage, onion, celery and green pepper in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté for 5 minutes; drain. Stir in rice, soup mix and water. Transfer to a lightly greased 2-quart casserole dish; sprinkle with almonds. Bake, covered, at 300 degrees for 1-1/2 hours. Serves 6.
Fruit butter is yummy spread on dinner rolls. Combine 1/2 cup softened butter with one cup powdered sugar and one to 2 cups sliced berries or fruit. Place in a food processor and process until smooth. Refrigerate and use within one week.
