Electro-Shock Prod

As a member of the support crew maintaining the Resistance’s starfighters, an electro-shock prod was an essential part of Rose Tico’s toolkit. She mainly used it for working on electrical wiring and resetting faulty systems. A dial on the device controlled the power emanating from its two prong-like electrodes. This could range from a low-powered zap to a high-voltage jolt. The small, handheld machine could restart a tripped circuit or melt an entire conduit.
Shortly after the Battle of D’Qar, Tico employed her electro-shock prod in a very different way: to reset the attitude of the freedom fighter Finn. Rose caught Finn preparing to abscond in an escape pod, on his way to warn his friend Rey against a planned rendezvous that he was sure would jeopardize both her and the rest of the fleet. Had anyone else glimpsed the Rebel hero appearing to run away in fear from the First Order, Finn’s story might have ended there with a blaster bolt to the back. Tico, perhaps out of respect for Finn’s past deeds on behalf of the Resistance, was merciful: she only zapped him with enough power to briefly render him unconscious.
After the First Order destroyed the Resistance base in the Otomok system, Rose joined the cause with Paige, her older sister. Paige became a gunner on one of the Resistance fleet’s bombers, but bravely sacrificed her life destroying the First Order Siege Dreadnought Fulminatrix during the Battle of D’Qar. However, the Resistance was more than ships and machines. The real lifeblood of the cause were people like Rose Tico, who, even in her grief over her sister’s sacrifice continued to believe in its ideals and dream of a better future.
Individuals like Tico—toiling in the background with her electro-shock prod and other tools, performing the vital tasks that allowed frontline heroes to shine—rarely got the recognition they deserved. A dedicated and brilliant technician who showed great courage in desperate circumstances, Rose Tico’s commitment to the Resistance never wavered.
