“It may work. If I can learn to use that thing.” I watch Jake turn on the oxy-cutter and it burns bluish white. His plan is to cause a commotion while I cut through the bars to Danny's cell. Seems solid enough, except I have no idea what I'm doing and don't want to blow us up.
“It's not hard, you just put on the goggles, first turn on the gas to get it lit, when the bars turn bright red, you pull the trigger to release the air that helps finish the cut. You'll see it melt. Once you’re through, tap the bars with the mallet and they'll pop out and you can pull Danny out. If she turns we're screwed. She’ll be stuck, unable to reach the windows. You understand? As soon as they are out you run ‘round front, if the keys are there you're golden if not you gotta cut the back. Got it?”
“I think I got it. First the red tank then when it gets all red the green one right?”
“You got it. Don't forget to use the goggles because there will be a lot of sparks. The bars are old but still strong.”

THE SUN STARTS GOIN' down and we get to work quickly. I packed the horses earlier and tied them to each other, all of our stuff back on them. Seems our stayin' is gonna be cut short. I toss the cutter in the bag it came in and follow Jake to the Sheriff's office once more. The office is full. There is the Sheriff, the deputy, and some other man. Looks like another trainee. Shit. I hope that the commotion is going to be enough to get them all out. I still ain’t sure what Jake is gonna do. But I think it's probably gonna be something dangerous. I hope he comes out okay. He sets me up ‘round back and I can hear the men talking. Apparently my photo came in and they are discussin' goin' and gettin' me as they have seen me at the hotel with a big man they assume is Jake, though they don’t know his name.
“Damn. This had better be a big distraction or we're screwed.” I whisper, realizing Jake's stripping down. I raise an eyebrow.
“A snarling wolf as big as me will draw them no problem.” He smiles, kissing my cheek. “Wish me luck.”
I grab him by the head and kiss his mouth. “Luck.”
There he goes bare assed around the corner. I watch as his shadow turns. I'm thankful he doesn’t do it right in front of me. I don't think my nerves could have taken it.
