Author’s Note

I hope you enjoyed my latest Code Busters mystery, The Haunting of Mystery Mansion, which takes place at the real-life Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California. The spooky mansion is one of my favorite places to visit. Much about the book’s content on the house and Sarah Winchester is based on real information—why she kept building the house, how big it is, the curious symbols throughout, the dead ends and winding staircases—even the listening tubes. And yes, there’s even a room where Sarah Winchester held séances to contact her dead husband. Its history is what makes the house so interesting!

Of course, I made up the story. I thought the Code Busters would be intrigued by the girl in the window and be challenged by the codes found throughout the book as they lose themselves in the mansion. Just so you know, the guides and security people are all very nice and helpful—not scary at all. And I didn’t see a single ghost. But then, I only go in the daytime . . .
