JESUS IS THE NAME THAT BRINGS HEALING
O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth.
—PSALM 8:1, NKJV
• Our names are precious to us . . . they reveal who we are.
• They are a personal connection, a unique part of us.
• Names in biblical times were very important, as they revealed a person’s character.
• Some men are born to a great name, like kings; others make their name great by achievements.
JESUS’ NAME is great because He inherited and because of His great achievements. “And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matt. 1:21). The name Jesus is inseparably connected with salvation.
Jesus Christ—His glory—the Lord is Salvation—Son of Abraham (taking His royal lineage back to Abraham and Abrahamic Covenant.)
Jesus means Jehovah is Salvation, “is the Savior.” God is salvation (Acts 8:16; 19:5).
• In the name of Jesus we can cast out demons (Luke 9:1).
• In the name of Jesus we are healed (Isa. 53:4–5).
• In the name of Jesus we can perform mighty miracles (Acts 3:6–9).
• In the name of Jesus we have power over sin, Satan, disease, death, and hell (Matt. 9:6; Heb. 2:14–15).
• We have the right to use the name of Jesus in our petitions in prayer (John 14:14).
