PERHAPS YOU HAVE been troubled and sought help or counsel from a spiritual friend. Maybe you have heard the advice, “Seek the face of God.” Many people throughout history have wanted to see God’s face. In the Bible we read about people who “sought the face of God.” Why? Because when you can look at someone’s face, you can also see what’s in their heart. And the same is true with God; if you see His face, you see His heart. When you are seeking, it helps greatly if you know what your goal is and what you’ll find once you are there. You see, our true seeking always begins with worshipping God. That is how we acknowledge Him as the source of all we need (healing). No matter where we are in our seeking, God wants us to come nearer to Him. Then, even if we still feel we are at a distance from God, He reveals His love to us (Deut. 4:29–31; 2 Chron. 19:3; Ps. 9:1–2).
