This reclining seat is comfortable, looks great and is easier to make than you might expect! You can make it with any long lengths of wood that grow near you. Watch out though, it is so comfortable you may not get much more done around your camp …
1. First, find four straight lengths of wood, perhaps around the same height as yourself. Make two pairs using the shear lashing technique on at one end of each length.
2. Now square lash the two pairs together, resting the ends of the sticks on logs. You’ll also need a stick to support the back of the chair while you work.
3. Square lash two cross pieces as shown in the picture. You can now remove the support stick and logs.
4. Finally, complete your stargazer with netting to make a comfortable seat.
