For the past several years, Mike Sullivan has been working in Southeast Asia in the field of solar energy with the Siam Pacific Engineering Group as project manager. He authored business plans for solar energy farms, and supervised rooftop solar photovoltaic projects for electricity generation and for solar water-heating systems. He has participated in many trade shows and conventions, researching and promoting renewable energy. He resides in Thailand.

Mr. Sullivan earned an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Before that, he managed a high-voltage electrical engineering company and won several international contracts in South America. His undergraduate studies in engineering were completed at the Central University of Mexico.

Over the course of his research in the field of solar energy, Mr. Sullivan realized there was a need for a simple, up-to-date, non-technical DIY guidebook that would use clear terms and a holistic approach to explain photovoltaic solar energy to homeowners and prospective homeowners. The book would provide detailed instructions for DIY enthusiasts on how to plan their own solar project and how to install their own system.

The book he envisioned would provide advice on how to incorporate energy-efficient electrical products and other home improvements that would help reduce monthly utility bills and multiply the savings generated by a solar energy PV system.

For credibility and for professional accuracy, Mr. Sullivan was fortunate to have the guidance of Dr. Thomas Bickl, PhD, an internationally recognized authority on solar energy who provided invaluable input for the manuscript.
