Lawrence was inducted into the Sourcing Industry Group (SIG) Sourcing Supernova Hall of Fame in 2018 for pioneering leadership in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier innovation, and digital transformation. An Executive Certified Outsourcing Professional, Certified Sourcing Professional, Certified Supplier Management Professional, and Certified Intelligent Automation Professional, he currently works as a senior leader at a Fortune® 50 corporation where he gets to play with billions of dollars of other people’s money and make really important decisions.
A martial artist, judicious use-of-force expert, and the bestselling author of 20 books, he has won numerous awards including the 5th Annual Beverly Hills Book Award and Presidential Prize, the 13th Annual USA Best Book Awards winner, the 11th and 14th Annual National Indie Excellence Awards winner, a Next Generation Indie Book Awards winner, 3 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Award finalists, 5 USA Book News Best Books Award finalists, 3 Next Generation Indie Book Awards finalists, 2 Beverly Hills Book Awards finalists, and an eLit Book Awards Bronze prize.
Since 1970, Lawrence has studied and taught traditional Asian martial arts, medieval European combat, and modern close-quarter weapon techniques. Working stadium security part-time for 26 years he was involved in hundreds of violent altercations, but got paid to watch football. A founding technical consultant to University of New Mexico’s Institute of Traditional Martial Arts, he has also written hundreds of articles on martial arts, self-defense, countervailing force, and related topics.
He has been interviewed numerous times on podcasts (e.g., Art of Procurement, Negotiations Ninja Podcast), nationally syndicated and local radio shows (e.g., Biz Talk Radio, The Jim Bohannon Show), and television programs (e.g., Fox Morning News) as well as by reporters from Computerworld, Le Matin, Practical Taekwondo, Forbes, Traditional Karate, and Police Magazine, among other publications. He was once interviewed in English by a reporter from a Swiss newspaper for an article that was published in French, and found that oddly amusing.
