MIDNIGHT LADY

Midnight lady

covered with nets and shining scales

walks down the hallway

beating a drum full of mice

On the stairs are her ladders:

thin braided rays

The walls resound

clear light falls

over things

dew, hoarfrost, ice

Dumbstruck night creatures

will now see the face of death,

the zero, the shrew, the abyss

Oh dark hive

on mother’s knee

turning around

for me

She puts on

my house robe

sits on my bed

as if it were her work table
