Chapter 32

Real Girl Talk

A thread runs through each one of our Bible-girl stories. Did you see the thread? God’s great love is woven throughout the Bible and in each of our girls’ stories. No matter which story you read, you can see God at work in the life of that Bible girl as God the Father, God the Holy Spirit, or God the Son, Jesus Christ.

Even in the lives of the Bible girls in the Old Testament, God the Father was preparing the way for Jesus. It started with Eve in the garden of Eden. When she and Adam disobeyed God, sin interrupted their relationship with him, a perfect God. But God so loves you and me that he had a plan to make the relationship right. That’s where his perfect Son, Jesus Christ, came in. Born a human baby, Jesus grew up and took all our sin to the cross for us. He paid the price for our sin so we can enjoy a relationship with God. So we can have the Holy Spirit at work in our lives.

Check out what the Bible has to say about it.

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood.

—ROMANS 3:23–25

Sin—wanting our own way—is a human condition that we all struggle with.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

—ROMANS 6:23

Because of sin, your soul (your spiritual being) and my soul are dead to God who is perfect and without sin. But God still loved us and gave us the best gift of all. He sent his perfect Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sin.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

—JOHN 3:16

All we have to do is believe that Jesus is who God says he is. If we put our faith in Jesus, even after our body dies, our soul will live forever with God in heaven.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

— 1 JOHN 1:9

If we repent of our sins, God will forgive us and make us clean because of what Jesus did for us.

Yet to all who received [Jesus], to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

— JOHN 1:12

If we believe Jesus is God’s perfect son who died in our place so we can have a relationship with God, and if we receive Jesus as our personal savior, we become a child of God.

Right where you are right now, you can talk to God. You can make sure Jesus is at the center of your life story. You can become a child of God. You can know that when you die you will spend eternity with Jesus.
