She’s also been a four-time Eppie finalist, and a finalist in the Prism, Dream Realm, Rising Star, Lories, Scarlett Letter, and Vixen Awards contests. Her short fiction has appeared in numerous small press publications in the fantasy, science fiction, and romance genres.
A member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and the Short Mystery Fiction Society, she is also a past president of the Southeast chapter of Mystery Writers of America and served on the MWA national board.
Karen worked in trade publishing for more than ten years as an editor, managing editor, and senior web editor before leaving to start her own web design business. Now retired, she writes full time. She lives in Greensboro, North Carolina.
