Wallpaper Paste
makes 1½ gallons - use with Papier-mâché

MATERIALS
4 cups (1 L) flour
1 cup (250 ml) sugar
1 gallon (4 L) warm water
4 cups (1 L) cold water
½ T. (7 ml) oil of cinnamon (optional)
large pan
PROCESS
- mix flour and sugar in a large pan
- add enough warm water to make smooth paste
- then add rest of warm water, stirring
- boil, stirring until thick and clear
- thin with 4 cups (1 L) cold water
- add oil of cinnamon if paste will not be used same day
- use with Papier-Mâché and other projects using large amounts of paste
HINTS
- spreads best when warm
- keeps for a few days
- makes 1½ gallons (6 L)
- use to cover lamp shades and wastebaskets with cloth or wallpaper
