PROCESS

1. visit the beach or river shore
2. find wet sand
   hint: if tide is in, add water to an area of dry sand and mix with hands until sand holds together somewhat
3. explore and create

VARIATIONS

• add buckets, containers, and other tools to build shapes and scratch designs
• work indoors in a large tub or sand table
• build a castle
• sculpt animals, creatures, or characters
• sculpt anything, such as favorite toys, holiday symbols, maps, cars or boats, scenes, or stories
