Most of all, thank you to Matthew who helped with all of the recipes in this book. Next up my mum, Gillian, and also Peter, who helped by sweeping the children up and off whilst I hid in the corner of my local café writing the book. Grace, Ivy and Dot, you three get special recognition for all your tireless and appreciative eating, “is it going in the book?” was an anthem to mealtimes. Thank you to all my friends (and also their children) who offered to cook the book; these are recipes double, triple, tried and tested by some of the loveliest families in Bristol. We shot some of the pictures in a bright, beautiful house in Somerset, thank you to Robin and Dick Baker. Toast kindly offered some of the plates and props, as did The National Trust.
