With so many attractive wallpapers to choose from, it can be downright difficult to pick just one. Luckily, a mix of prints can work together beautifully if you stay in the same palette—such as the four cobalt designs used here to line open shelving in a kitchen. (The same idea would work for a bookshelf or china cabinet too.) Remove shelves before applying paper according to manufacturer’s instructions (or use self-adhesive paper); when back in place they’ll hide the paper’s edges, so you don’t have to worry about perfect alignment.
This wallpaper idea became an instant hit when it first appeared in the magazine (in September 2012!). A single roll will cover a typical stairwell. Apply paper as directed, then protect it with two thin coats of a clear water-based varnish, painting it on with a foam brush.
