Spiced Turkey Burger
Prep time: 5 minutes | Cook time: 13 minutes | Serves 4
1 pound (454 g) ground turkey
½ red onion, minced
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded, stemmed, and minced
3 tablespoons bread crumbs
1½ teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 burger buns, for serving
Lettuce, tomato, and cheese, if desired, for serving
Ketchup and mustard, if desired, for serving
- Insert the Grill Grate and close the hood. Select GRILL, set the temperature to HIGH, and set the time to 13 minutes. Select START/STOP to begin preheating.
- Meanwhile, in a large bowl, use your hands to combine the ground turkey, red onion, jalapeño pepper, bread crumbs, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overwork the burger mixture.
- Dampen your hands with cool water and form the turkey mixture into four patties.
- When the unit beeps to signify it has preheated, place the burgers on the Grill Grate. Close the hood and GRILL for 11 minutes.
- After 11 minutes, check the burgers for doneness. Cooking is complete when the internal temperature reaches at least 165ºF (74ºC) on a food thermometer. If necessary, close the hood and
continue grilling for up to 2 minutes more.
- Once the burgers are done cooking, place each patty on a bun. Top with your preferred fixings, such as lettuce, tomato, cheese, ketchup, and/or mustard.
