Every writer needs a cheerleader.

Stroud is mine.

Many people helped me create Waters Plantation. First, I owe thanks to the faithful readers of The Doctors Wife and Stein House who kept asking me what happened to the characters in those books. I hope Ive answered some of their questions in this sequel.

I am proud that the book cover art was created by my granddaughter Lori Lockhart and Jenean Farris. As always, I found encouragement and constant support from Stroud, my husband of forty-five years. Barbara Wagner, my long-time friend who has faithfully read and reread my earlier books, plowed through Waters Plantation numerous times using her eagle eye on my horrid spelling and offering straight talk about portions of the book that needed improvement and/or deletion.

My friends in The Novelcrafters, a critique group of tough readers, writers, and loving supporters, have challenged me to make this the best tale possible. And finally, Sarah Cortez, my editor whose own work sings with reality, provided thoughtful questions and rich ideas that pushed me toward a better story.

Finally, I owe thanks to Lisa Organ, director of Indies United, who welcomed me and guided me through the process of moving my books into this cooperative of dedicated authors.
