For the Norse people, the number nine is magical, so this is a favorite casting among experienced runemasters. This is a great option if you want to figure out where you are along your path and what you should do next. This is also a cast that helps to test your intuition.
To do this casting, give some thought to your spiritual needs and choose nine runes, and then hold them in your hand for a few moments. The scatter then over your cloth.
Typically, runes that fall closer to the center of the cloth relate most to the situation at hand, your present, so to speak. That means the ones that land closer to the edges aren’t as important. If there are runes that are rather close to one another or are touching, they could be complementing influences. But, if there are two runes at opposite sides of your cloth, then they show opposing influences.
You need to focus on the runes that landed face-up, first. It may be a good idea to write those down so that you can look them up and study them a bit more. Once you are done with the face-up rune, you can start to turn over the ones that landed upside down, making sure you live them where they landed. These upside-down runes represent future or outside influences that may show you some new possibilities.
When you are interpreting your runes, make sure that you put your intuition to good use. This is a rune casting where you don’t have any set rules, and it is all up to you and your interpretation.
