GOD’S DESIGN FOR MARRIAGE
GOD CREATED THE INSTITUTION of marriage for our good and for his glory. When we, as followers of Christ, conform to God’s design for marriage, we bear witness to Christ’s love for the church. The church, as the bride of Christ, should look with eager expectation to the day when she will enjoy fellowship forever with her heavenly bridegroom.
A man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
GENESIS 2:24
This mystery [concerning God’s design for marriage] is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
EPHESIANS 5:32
Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure.

Responding in Prayer
- Thank God for his good design for marriage. Ask him to help you trust his design regardless of the opinions of others.
- Pray that God would strengthen the marriages in your church, including your own (if you are married), so that the proclamation of the gospel might be adorned by lives of faithfulness.
- Ask God to give you a greater love for Christ and a greater desire for his return.
