HOW WE SHOULD TREAT PEOPLE OF DIFFERENT ETHNICITIES
THE COMMAND TO LOVE our neighbor means that we are to treat all people with respect, love, and compassion. We must speak up on their behalf, take care of their needs, and, most important, share the gospel with them. Scripture portrays Christ’s bride (the church) as multiethnic, which means that our mission should extend to all peoples, languages, tribes, and tongues.
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
MATTHEW 22:39
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations.
MATTHEW 28:19
[Peter] said to them, “You yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I should not call any person common or unclean.”
ACTS 10:28
Responding in Prayer
- Ask God to give you courage to speak up on behalf of those who are ignored or oppressed in your own community and around the world.
- Pray that God would open doors for you to share the gospel with friends and neighbors who are different from you socially, economically, and ethnically.
- Ask God to help your church reach out to individuals of different ethnicities and to partner with gospel-believing churches that look different from yours.
