HILE KRISHNA ROVED the forest, carousing
with the girls,
Radha, feeling jilted and jealous, ambled off;
Hiding somewhere in an ivy bower abuzz with
swarming honeybees,
the lovelorn girl confided in her friend:
HIS ENCHANTED FLUTE pealed honeyed harmonies,
ambrosia from lips aquiver, sweet for drinking;
As he shook his head, earrings jingled on his cheeks
by eyes so brightly blinking;
I remember Krishna dancing in the rasa roundelay,
jesting in amorous prankish play.

His locks were wreathed with peacock feathers,
their eyes like moons in dark of night;
Wrapped in resplendent robes, he seemed
a storm cloud dappled with rainbow light;
I remember Krishna dancing in the rasa roundelay,
jesting in amorous prankish play.
