her actions are more appropriate to the heroic sentiment than to the erotic; when, seeing her in a disheveled state in the morning, Krishna remains infatuated with her, it is “marvelous” (adbhuta), the technical term for the sentiment of amazement; the embarrassed Radha’s attempt to cover her nakedness is comic; and the term for the sentiment of peace or religious serenity (santa) is used, not without irony, to describe Radha’s “placid” breasts.
