At last, when the servants of Hell went back to their loka and met Yamraj, they complained, “We were not able to do our duty properly. We could not bring that sinful man here.” Then, they told Yamraj how the servants of Narayana had come there, and what had happened afterwards.
Yamraj, who is also called Dharmaraj, the lord of justice, was listening with deep concentration. His servants were telling him that the servants of Narayana had violated the rules of karma. But, Dharmaraj started smiling. Then, he explained to his fellow servants, “This entire universe is just a contemporary manifestation of the eternal power of the Supreme Lord Narayana Himself. There is nothing beyond Him. No one can comprehend Him. Even Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva are just a part of His manifestation, not the fullness. For the sake of creation, He created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. They are part of His primary creation. We were created down the line. We are bound by our duty. We have to do our duty. If we don’t do our duty properly, He would kick us out, and another Yamraj will take my place. And the same applies to Indra, Kubera, Agni dev, Vayu, Varuna and all the demigods. We are bound by our dharma. We are bound to accomplish our duty which has been allocated to us.”
The demigods can’t say, “No, we will not do our duty.” It’s like when you are employed in a certain office, and your boss gives you a certain job to do. What do you have to do? You have to do it according to the instructions of your boss. Whether you want it or not, whether you think that it is stupid or not, you have to do it according to what the boss has told you. Otherwise, what will happen? You will lose your job, and somebody else will do your job. Likewise, the demigods are bound by their duty.
Dharmaraj explained, “Narayana, who is beyond all manifestation, He is Supreme Lord Himself. We can’t question Him. He is the Lord with form and without form. He is the eternal one. He is beyond all laws. He is free to do whatever He wants. He creates today and He destroys tomorrow. Now, He makes one a sinner, tomorrow He makes that sinner a saint. And He makes a saint become sinner. So, who are we? We are secondary or third down the line, so we can’t question the acts of the servants sent by Him to rescue Ajamila. Ajamila is also part of the Lord’s manifestation. For sure the Lord has His own agenda, and He knows why He does such things. Who are we to question Him? Only He knows the deepness of His Leela. Even the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh) can’t comprehend the Will of Narayana. They are bound by their own duties, which are creation, protection and destruction, respectively. But Narayana is beyond everything."
Dharmaraj continued, "Ajamila was saved just by calling ‘Narayana’ one time. Here, you see the power of His Name. There is no end to His Grace. Narayana is not just a name. The glory, the Grace of Narayana’s Name is endless, beyond comprehension. How would people understand that with a limited mind? So those who have earned the Grace of Narayana’s Name are no more under my authority They are no more under my jurisdiction. I don’t have power over them.”
