CHAMPION

The Champion is strong and brave. Bold, possessing a quiet strength. Always smiling, even if the mood does not invite it. Champion laughs through pain, but is aware of its sting. Courage is the natural product of one who embraces their weakness. Boasting always in weaknesses, letting God’s grace rest gently on his shoulders. He is kind. He listens. He listens for hours to my sorrows, my pain, and my story. He gives me space where it is safe to scream, to laugh, to expose my crazy. He meets it with his love. A love so big it reaches deep down and picks up my insecurities and kisses each one. He’s so cool, so calm, and it pisses me off! I want to scream, to fight, to kick, and he laughs. He is still, unfazed, and deeply in love with all of me. Down to the most grotesque parts. He has bravely traveled through the battlefield cautiously evading the land mines to regain my heart. My bruised, hardened, heart. He took his newfound treasure and cared for it one stitch at a time. His love was so pure and true that it removed all the toxins that festered there for years. He healed the infections and restored it back to its proper function. My heart was able to be free again, returning to its childlike state. I laughed for no reason, I smiled at the moon and the sun. I woke up to the smell of sunflowers, and was able to appreciate the rain again when it fell. God gave me much more than a Lucky. He gave a Queen warrior a Champion.

Some of my friends and I were hanging out one Sunday afternoon when we decided to take a walk around the lake. It was a beautiful sunny day, one of those days you knew something good was going to happen. You just expected it. That’s when I met him….
