Song and I had been writing and recording for about six months. We decided we would put an EP out telling our story. In between time, I had started gathering together my poetry in notebooks. Every piece took me back to a certain time in my journey up until that point. Hasan, Kenya, baby Kenya and his father, Song, Mama, my parents, grandparents. All these stories within stories, all of these cycles and circles that had brought me to this point. I decided I would put them together in a book.
