CASSIE WAS THRILLED when she heard Paige’s elated squeal echo through the office. She knew Aidan was going to propose, because she’d taken him to pick up the ring two days earlier. She pushed away from the lab’s center island and turned to Chance. “Pay up, Professor.” She held out her hand and wiggled her fingers.
They’d made a bet on how long it would take before Aidan actually asked the question. Chance was convinced he’d wait until Christmas. She didn’t think he’d last the week, and she’d been right.
