Our lives occur to us in patterned ways. This means that all our meanings and interpretations are nothing but our habitual patterns that constantly impact how we feel and behave. Opening to this reality, gives us the power to change the disempowering perceptions bring out a shift in our ways of feeling, acting and being.
We want you to draw your attention to four such key aspects in this phase - how you view your pregnancy, how you experience yourself, how you relate to your spouse and, lastly, how you perceive your unborn.
When you embrace pregnancy with reverence and put all your energies to centre your thoughts and calm your nerves, it is only then that you start responding to yours and your baby’s needs thoughtfully. To create your child in a desirable way what you truly want must first be imagined. Once your thought, emotion and energies are synergized, your body will itself be aligned to birth in health and harmony. Look at pregnancy as an opportunity to honour your womanhood and experience, the vastness of who you are and what you are capable of.
Next, become aware of how you occur to yourself. How you experience yourself determines your experience of others and others’ experience of you. When we alter how we relate to ourselves, we experience a profound shift in our whole world. Only with immense love and acceptance for the self, you can allow your light shine inside out.
Thirdly, how you and your spouse relate to each other, will set the foundation of relationships for your children. In deep abiding love, it is not difficult focusing on the positive and virtuous aspects of your partner and ignoring the annoyances.
Lastly, address how you perceive your child. Believing that the child has chosen you and honoring the miracle of its life will allow you to nurture your unborn. Embrace your child with her/his unique gifts and individuality. Our children follow what we do and not what we teach them. ‘Walking the talk’ is essential as children can easily sense our inauthenticities.
It is time to build some rituals in every aspect of your life so that you can create the best possible prenatal environment. Slow down! Whenever in doubt or upset, pause, look around and be grateful.
And finally, look at pregnancy as an opportunity to recreate yourself. The power to create is the very essence of a human life. This is a boon and a bane. Bane, because alas, nothing and no one is to blame. It is YOU. Boon, again because the creator is YOU! You choose the “what” and the “how” !
We all hope that our children are our greatest creation. You deserve to create the best you can. And through the process of creation, you, dear parent, deserve to become the very best you can be!
