Chakras are the interface between the physical body and the energy that runs the universe. Chakras are the centres of receiving, assimilation, distribution and transmission of energy.

Sanskrit Name: Mooldhara

Location: Base of the spine

Colour: Red

Endocrine gland: Adrenal cortex

Physical association: The skeletal structure, teeth, large intestine, kidneys, blood

Key functions: Survival, self-preservation, physical safety and security

Common issues stored: Survival issues such as financial independence, money and food

  • Shaped from a few months before birth up to first year of life.
  • Relates to survival, security and confidence of your baby in the material world. Extremely important for success in conventional sense ‐ finances, career, health and home.
  • Mother’s happiness, physical security, health, love and care of child will have a strong impact on its development in the child.
  • ‘Fear’ inhibits its development
  • To support the well‐being of this chakra for your child, the consistent experience of physical safety and security is essential.

Second Chakra: Sacral

Sanskrit name: Swadhisthaana

Location: between the site of the gonads

Colour: Orange

Endocrine gland: Ovaries, testicles

Physical association: Womb, genitals, kidney, bladder

Key functions: Centre of feeling, emotion, pleasure, sexuality and reproduction, empathy and understanding.

Common issues stored: Sexual abuse in childhood, adolescence or past lives

  • Activates around eight month. Develops from 6 months to 2yrs.
  • Our ability for self‐gratification, emotional responses and pleasure are governed by this chakra.
  • Mother’s creativity, movements and relationships will influence vitality in child’s life.
  • Inhibited by guilt, so healing emotions is the key.
  • By supporting the well‐being of this chakra for your child, her/his sexuality and vitality are stabilized.

Third Chakra: Solar Plexus

Sanskrit Name: Manipura

Location: Between the belly button and the heart

Colour: Yellow

Endocrine gland: Adrenals, pancreas

Physical association: Digestive system, liver, gall bladder

Key Functions: Centre for ego identity, self‐understanding, assertion, self‐worth, self-confidence and self‐esteem, actions and willpower.

Common issues stored: Suppressed self-expression and low self‐esteem.

  • Differentiates around seventh month, develops between 1.5 to 3.5 years.
  • Our ability to be in control of our lives and to sense our personal power is governed by this chakra.
  • Mother’s subtle responses to unborn will start to determine its sense of self, energy and actions.
  • Inhibited by the shame of mother‐ cultural or personal.
  • To support the well‐being of this chakra for your child, empower others to express their divine nature as embodying leadership abilities encourages a child to express her/his creative power.

Fourth Chakra: Heart Chakra

Sanskrit Name: Anahata

Location: In the centre of the chest area

Colour: Green

Endocrine gland: Thymus

Physical association: Heart, lungs, circulatory system, arms, hands

Key Functions: Centre of love, compassion, affection, intimacy, joy, harmony, self-acceptance and inner peace.

Common issues stored: Grief, resentment, grudges, hatred and abandonment.

  • Activates from fifth/sixth month, develops from years 3 to 7.
  • It is the balancer and transformer of three lower and three upper chakras.
  • Unborn’s feeling centers receive mothers love, in the form of her heartbeat, voice and emotions.
  • It is important for finding happiness in relationships and society.
  • Inhibited by Mother’s sadness, conflict, abandonment, hostility to her.
  • To support the well‐being of this chakra for your child, honour her/his presence with love and compassion.

Fifth Chakra: Throat

Sanskrit Name: Visuddhi

Location: Positioned in the pit of the throat

Colour: Vibrant blue

Endocrine gland: Thyroid and Parathyroid gland

Physical association: Throat, ears, mouth, shoulders, and neck

Key Functions: Centre of creativity, self‐expression, communication, diplomacy and playful detachment.

Common issues stored: Invalidation or denial of self‐expression, doubts and negative thoughts.

  • Activates around 4 month, develops between 7 to 12 years.
  • Our ability to discern and express our authentic self with honesty, clarity, integrity, authority and full awareness is governed by this chakra.
  • Early prenatal sensory inputs from the mother’s environment will start to create the “mind” of the unborn.
  • Baby’s creativity and power of expression will be determined by this chakra. Mother can nurture it through constant positive stimuli.
  • To support the well‐being of this chakra for your child, fully embrace the child’s feelings and needs and her/his psychological impulses.

Sixth Chakra: Third Eye

Sanskrit Name: Ajna

Location: Between the eyebrows

Colour: Indigo

Endocrine gland: Pituitary gland

Physical association: Eyes, base of skull, brow

Key Functions: Centre of wisdom, visualization, clear seeing, clear hearing and clear feeling, intuitive intelligence.

Common issues stored: Separation from cosmic consciousness.

  • Activates in a month or so after conception and develops 12 years onwards.
  • It starts with brain development within mother’s womb.
  • Nurtured with intuitive connection with unborn even before the mind dynamics comes into being.
  • Will impact your child’s ability to see clearly and reflect through life.
  • Is inhibited by illusory traps and “busyness” of mother to stop, reflect, connect to her unborn and live mindfully.

Seventh Chakra: Crown

Location: At the top of the head

Key Functions: Source of pure bliss and ecstasy, inner and outer beauty, our connection to spirituality enlightenment, intuition and knowingness.

Common issues stored: Psychological problems, lack of clarity and ignorance.

  • Our ability for spiritual unification with the divine and realizing that everything is connected at a fundamental level is the gift of this chakra.
  • Pure Consciousness is believed to exist even at start of life in the womb, and develops to its potential from early adulthood.
  • Love and divine consciousness of their own self nurture this chakra in the unborn child.
  • It will impact the lifelong mindfulness, intelligence, spirituality and attachments of your child.
