Epilogue

The definition of health is not just the absence of disease. True health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. One of my greatest wishes, is the wish for you to reach this pinnacle of true health.

You may believe that you don’t have the time to do things like cooking, exercising, journaling, or meditating, but you can make it happen. You may believe that taking the time to do these things for yourself is self-indulgent or selfish, but I want you to know, deep within yourself, that taking care of yourself, and the needs of your body, mind, and spirit, is one of the most unselfish things that you can do.

Know that your family and friends love you, and need you. You can’t be fully present in their lives, if you’re not fully present in your own. By taking care of yourself, not only will you be setting a great example for your kids and your family, but you’ll be ensuring that you are well enough to be there for them, and to fully enjoy the life you share together.

What could be more unselfish? Remember on a plane the flight attendant always instructs you to use your own oxygen mask before trying to help others. That’s because you can’t be of use to someone else, if you yourself are in distress.

So, although you may need to take a bit more time for your own selfcare than you’re used to, taking that time is neither selfish, nor self-indulgent, don’t ever feel guilty about it. Instead, know that by taking care of yourself, you are making a better life for those you love, and that by being healthy and vibrant you’ll be much better equipped to take care of your responsibilities, to handle life’s challenges, and to enjoy your time on this earth.

When you reach the pinnacle of true health that I’ve discussed, you will have done it on your own, and with the support of those who love you. More support is also available. The official Healthy Body Connection – Book community on Facebook, is designed to be a loving, safe, and supportive place for you, and other members to ask questions, share experiences, ideas, recipes, and words of encouragement. You are invited to join us in the discussion at https://www.facebook.com/groups/399359440411607/, I hope to see you there.
