SOME OF OUR FAVORITE VERSES
These are some of the verses we’ve found most helpful and convicting when it comes to interracial relationships—and relationships in general. As you think about what God may be calling you to do in your relationships with coworkers, friends, or family, let these verses wash over you and fill you.
Feel free to snap a photo of these verses to keep on your phone to revisit when you need to be reminded of them. Or you could copy some of them onto index cards to place around your home, in your car, or at your desk. This is a simple way to let the Word of God be alive and active in your life. We pray that the Holy Spirit speaks through them in the way only He can.
- Proverbs 15:1: A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
- Proverbs 12:16: Fools show their annoyance at once, but the prudent overlook an insult.
- Proverbs 11:11: Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.
- Proverbs 11:2: When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
- Proverbs 16:24: Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
- Proverbs 16:32: Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.
- Proverbs 17:17: A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.
- Proverbs 18:13: To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.
- Proverbs 18:21: The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
- Proverbs 20:12: Ears that hear and eyes that see—the LORD has made them both.
- Proverbs 21:21: Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
- Proverbs 21:23: Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.
- Proverbs 22:11: One who loves a pure heart and who speaks with grace will have the king for a friend.
- Proverbs 24:3-4: By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
- Proverbs 27:17: As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
- Proverbs 28:1: The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.
- Proverbs 29:20: Do you see someone who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for them.
- James 1:19-20, ESV: Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.
