Hi Trent. Well, I did exactly as you suggested. I played it cool. But I’m not sure it did any good :-(
We’re spending Christmas in a cottage in Cornwall and every time it rains (which is ALL the time) we can’t get any phone signal, any internet or any TV! It’s torture. We’ve ended up watching a ton of old DVDs that were here, and I’ve even been reading several “real” books. We play a lot of board games, but I’m desperate to call Logan. But generally the temptation passes before I get any signal, so I guess there is a bright side to our isolation! But I do keep wondering why I want to be with someone who is so emotionally cold. Anyway, it’s Christmas Day tomorrow and I wanted to wish you a happy holiday and all that. It’s really nice chatting with you again. I wish you’d never left.
Love, A

Happy Christmas, Ali. I hope Santa brought you tons of great presents.
Stay strong. I know Logan can seem kind of cold, but he’s actually pretty deep and kind of messed up. He just needs someone to coax him past his defensiveness, and I think you’re gentle enough to do it. He’s having a pretty miserable Christmas, from what I can gather from his emails. His mother is getting married again, and although Logan doesn’t say much about it, I get the impression he could use some comfort, if you know what I mean.
Stick to the plan to give him some time and space, but then when you get back to school totally surprise him by coming across as super thrilled to see him. I would just assume you are still together. Logan likes an easy life – just act like you’re still a couple and he won’t bother to question it as long as it stays fun.

P.S. I like chatting with you too. I’m kind of gutted that Logan is the reason we are chatting, but you and I always got on well, and if that’s all I get then it’s enough. x
