The carefree days of summer are slowly beginning to blend into the winds and whispers of falling leaves. Fall is a season when days are getting shorter, and we look forward to gathering together in our homes to celebrate the harvest. The changing of leaves and their subsequent fall to the ground is a reminder that life, too, brings many changes and that, no matter how much we would like to, we can’t slow down the passing of time.

As Christ-followers, we must take our cues from the falling leaves and remember that it is only through dying to our old ways that we are able to fully reap the blessings of the harvest God has waiting for us. And as we gather together to celebrate with thanksgiving all that God has provided, we are ever mindful of our deep and abiding need for His mercy and grace.
