Sometimes you just don’t want to smoke, but you do want to get high. Maybe you got a sore throat. Or maybe you’re recovering from a broken bone or other illness (ingesting any kind of smoke inhibits healing). Or maybe you don’t have a vaporizer yet. Or maybe you can’t find a lighter. Or maybe you want to try another kind of high. So what do you do?
Eat it, man!
There are entire cookbooks filled with recipes for cooking cannabis into foods. And we’re not just talking about the old standard—hash brownies. There are recipes for adding Vitamin THC to everything from pasta to pizza to French toast to damned-if-we-know.
But really, the only two recipes you need to easily consume your kush via the old piehole, are cannabis ghee and the firecracker. Cannabis ghee is basically condensed butter with THC in it, and Firecrackers are basically homemade peanut-butter crackers with THC in them.
Cooking school is now in session.
Cannabis Ghee
INGREDIENTS:
• 2 lb. unsalted butter
• 1 ounce finely ground marijuana
DIRECTIONS:
1. Melt the butter in a pan at a low to medium temperature until the butter is hot enough to boil, but not a rolling boil.
2. When froth forms on the surface of the melted butter, remove it with a spoon and toss.
3. Continue until no more froth appears.
4. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until it hardens.
5. Place the ghee in a pan on low heat until it begins to simmer.
(Note: Do not let the ghee boil or burn; it should only simmer with little or no bubbles.)
6. Add the cannabis slowly, stirring often.
7. Allow to simmer on low heat for an hour.
8. Strain the contents of the pan through cheese cloth, and allow to cool.
9. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
You can use cannabis ghee the same way you use butter. Start with about one-half of a teaspoon on a piece of toast, or on popcorn, or when frying eggs, or any other way you use butter. If you don’t get the high you seek, you can gradually increase the dose the next time you use it by one-half teaspoon.
The Firecracker
INGREDIENTS/TOOLS:
• 10 saltine crackers (or any other kind of cracker; the bigger the better)
• Natural peanut butter or Nutella (name-brand processed PB with hydrogenated oils don’t work as well)
• A pile of finely ground weed
DIRECTIONS:
1. Spread peanut butter liberally onto the center of one side of each of the ten crackers, but not all the way to the edges.
2. Carefully sprinkle a quarter-sized pile of finely ground weed on top of the peanut butter on five of the crackers.
3. Take the other five crackers, and press them down very gently on top of the five crackers with the weed, creating five little fortified peanut-butter sandwiches.
4. Place the sandwiches on a plate, and microwave at three-quarter power for exactly 14 seconds.
5. Individually wrap each of the sandwiches in tinfoil, and place all on a cookie sheet into a pre-heated oven at 320-degrees.
6. Cook for 20 minutes exactly. DO NOT OVERCOOK!
7. Remove, allow to cool, then enjoy.
TO USE:
Eat one cracker.
Note: Eating marijuana—whether it’s with cannabis ghee or firecrackers—will not get you high instantly the way smoking and vaporizing does. You won’t start to feel the effects until at least thirty minutes pass, and maybe not until an hour or more has gone by—everybody’s body is different. But you will experience—so say many fans of this format—a much deeper, fuller-body, and trippier high that lasts for hours. So put on your apron and get in the kitchen.
Bone appetite!
