SMOKING TRICKS

It’s good to know at least one smoke trick. But it’s a damn good time trying to learn them all.

Shotgun

The shotgun is an intimate and dangerous little number. It takes two to do it. The first person carefully places the lit end of a joint in their mouth and presses their lips closed near the unlit end sticking out. The second person opens their mouth and moves forward until their mouths are almost touching, and the first person blows into the joint, pushing smoke out into the open mouth.

Snap Inhale

Fill your mouth with smoke and curl your tongue up behind your top teeth. Open your mouth just to show the smoke, then snap your tongue down and let a little smoke float out, and then inhale it. Looks different every time.

Mouth-Nose Exhale

Take a big hit and inhale the smoke into your lungs, then exhale in short puffs alternating from your mouth to your nose until all the smoke is gone.

Ghost

Take a hit and let it sit inside your cheeks for a few seconds. Keep your lips puckered and your cheeks sucked in, then open your lips into a small O and gently pop out a tiny puff, backing away from it slightly. When the small ball of smoke pops out and hovers in front of you like a ghost, move forward and suck it all back into your mouth.

Smoke Rings

This is the trick everyone wants to learn, but it takes a lot of practice to get it down. Take a good-sized hit and keep it all in your mouth. Tilt your head back slightly, retract your tongue to the bottom of your mouth, open your lips in an O, then jab your tongue and lower-jaw forward to push out a small amount of smoke at a time. The puff should immediately form into a circle and float up into the air keeping its form. We suggest never doing more than one or two rings—the rest of that smoke in your mouth belongs in your lungs.

French Inhale

Also called the Irish Waterfall. Start with a nice big hit, but don’t inhale—leave it in your mouth. Open your mouth and let the smoke flow out and up slowly, then breathe it back into your nostrils, and once all the smoke has gone from your mouth into your nostrils, blow it all out your mouth again.

Cloud

Also known as Mushroom Cloud. With a mouthful of smoke, curl your lips and let it out slowly and consistently so it forms a cloud shape in the air, then suck it all back in.

Invisible Hit

Take a big rip and hold it in for so long that, when you exhale, no smoke comes out. Virtually impossible, and not recommended.
