BENNETT
Walking along the farmers’ market, I have J.J. strapped in a baby carrier so he’s resting his head against my chest. My wife’s hand is interlinked with my own, except when she spots something on a stall and investigates further. The market is only once a month and thankfully on a Sunday when Kelsey has New Moon closed. Even so, she’s been working fewer hours in the last months. She isn’t afraid to take off.
It’s a beautiful September day, and I couldn’t ask for anything better. This is our Sunday routine of walks, food, and family time when I don’t need to be at the winery. I’m on the afternoon shift of the market’s Olive Owl stall, so I take the morning to explore and have breakfast with Kelsey and my son.
We beat Grayson and Brooke to the altar by one week, since I was already desperate to speed up our timeline, as I had wanted us to be married before J.J. entered the world. It was a quick trip to the courthouse and dinner on the patio of Olive Owl for us. Something tells me that we are saving a big Olive Owl family wedding for Knox or Lucy one day.
“Let’s get some fresh apples so I can steam some for J.” Kelsey is already eyeing the colorful array of fruit.
“Sounds good.”
Just as she goes to grab a few apples, my phone vibrates in my pocket, and I pull it out with one hand. I notice it’s Kelsey’s family group chat. A funny thing about grandkids is that they bring out the best in people. Parents who wouldn’t win an award are somehow amazing grandparents and babysitters too.
Dr. Bridge: Shall we take J.J. at four? We would like to bring him to the club for early dinner.
I quickly type.
Me: Not sure the golf club is a place for J.J.
Cheryl: Probably not, but we like to show him off.
Me: At five o’clock cocktail hour?
Dr. Bridge: You may have a point. Okay, just drop him off when you’re ready.
Me: Thanks.
Tonight, we get a whole night kid-free and are going to go for a nice dinner then fuck like crazy. Kelsey returns to me with a bag of fruit.
“Have you seen the group chat?”
“My parents? Not yet, but I can only imagine. They asked me for J’s size so they could buy him a golfing outfit for Halloween. I informed them that we would be going the traditional route on Halloween costumes,” she assures me.
“Thankfully. Need to figure that out soon, as pumpkin season is here. Already selling a few today.”
She smiles at me before kissing the top of our son’s head. “Daddy’s favorite time of year, and this year, I can even have the rum-filled pumpkin cider. Daddy has never seen me under the influence of his alcoholic cider. He may just love it,” Kelsey coos to our son, and I have to snort a laugh at it all.
I watch Kelsey disappear toward a new stall selling jams.
Looking up, I see Grayson and Brooke approaching us with Rosie between them holding their hands.
“Hey, you two! Where’s Lucy?” I wonder.
“She said she wanted to meet a friend and would meet us later at the stall.”
I notice Grayson’s facial expression turns tight.
“Friend or a friend-friend?” I understand why my brother has concern because I feel it too.
Brooke shakes her head at us. “Who cares? It’s her senior year so let her figure life out.”
Kelsey returns to us and says hi to everyone, and I know this afternoon she and Brooke will hang out and go for coffee.
“Want us to watch him before your shift starts?” Grayson indicates to my son strapped to me.
“Is this your ploy to convince Brooke to try for a baby?” Kelsey gives Grayson a knowing look.
His tight-lipped smile confirms that my wife is too smart. But me? I’m already transferring our son to him, as a few minutes alone with my wife is much appreciated.
“Just fed, new diaper, he is good to go. We will be back in twenty. Bye,” I say with haste and quickly grab Kelsey’s hand before she can protest.
“What has gotten into you? Where’s the fire?” Kelsey asks as I tug her along to the parking lot.
I’m thankful my back windows have a dark tint and we parked far away from the crowd.
Her giggle as we approach the car informs me that she knows what I have planned.
“Five minutes. What can we do in five minutes?” I hit the fob and unlock my car.
We both glance around before sliding into the back. J’s car seat takes up space, which means she has no option but to sit on top of me. No complaints.
“So much we can do,” she rasps as I slip my fingers behind the waistband of her leggings and I feel her slick heat coat my skin. “Oh, so good.” Her eyes hood closed as she moves against my hand.
All her little noises and the sight of her pouty lips makes my cock rock hard. I’m thankful she is already working my belt and zipper. Quickly, I tip my hips up so she can slide my jeans and boxer briefs down halfway.
“On top of me,” I order, and her eyes are filled with desire as her tongue darts out to the corner of her mouth.
“Better idea.” She shimmies down to the floor of the car and her mouth moves to my tip.
“Christ,” I groan as her lips mold around my cock before taking me farther into her mouth. My hands hold her hair up because I love the sight of her, especially as her eyes peer up to me, as if she needs approval or praise. Her tongue strokes me and a pulsing sensation rushes down to below my navel. “Kelsey, sit on me, now.”
She quickly moves and then aligns us before she sinks down on me. Our equal sounds of pleasure synchronize and her mouth biting into my neck is going to get us in trouble.
“Come for me,” she whispers into my ear.
Reaching between us, I rub the pad of my thumb against her little bud because no way am I going alone.
“You know the rules,” I remind her as we both quicken our thrusting movements.
Our kiss blocks our moans as we find our edge that we both fall off of, until we’re there, a tangled mess trying to calm down.
“Fucking love you, babe,” I remind her.
“Love you too.”

Arriving at the stall, hand in hand, everyone looks at us peculiarly.
“Here’s your kid back,” Grayson says as he gently hands my son back.
“What’s the game plan, kids?” Knox asks as he straightens a bottle of wine on the table.
“J is staying with us, he is a marketing genius.” I pinch my son’s chubby cheek, and it’s true that women of all ages flock to us when they see me with a baby in a carrier on my chest.
Kelsey helps me strap him in. “I’m completely on board with you using our son. Okay, ladies’ afternoon today. Where’s Lucy? She said she would meet us here.”
“I’ll text her… or not,” Brooke mentions as she tips her head up into the direction behind me.
Lucy comes storming to us and all our attention darts to her. My sister looks furious as she scans our group, as if she’s hunting for someone, until her eyes land on Knox.
“You,” she seethes out.
Knox grins at her, amused. “Uh-oh, what did I do?” He drinks from his water bottle, clearly unaffected.
“You slept with my new English teacher!” she yells.
All our faces drop as we now focus our attention to Knox.
“The one you said was uptight and a pain in your ass?” Grayson asks my brother, clearly confused.
Then I add in my point of reference, as I’m trying to figure out who is Knox’s latest victim. “You mean her? The one who you said you would choose poison over, despite her appeal?”
Knox’s jaw goes slack, yet he still maintains an awkward grin. “That’s the one.” He scratches his cheek. “I guess I should explain…”
