Plastic wrap, when applied to a wet wash, will cause the paint to move and accumulate on the edges of wrinkles formed in the plastic wrap. Allow paper that’s covered in plastic wrap to dry undisturbed, and you will be rewarded with an interesting geometric-looking texture. I like to use this texture as the base layer for paintings with mixed media and patterns drawn with markers.
Apply plastic wrap over a wet wash on regular paper and allow the wash to dry completely.
Use the resulting textured layer as a starting point to build up designs and patterns.
