* Sexual abuse and sex therapy specialists can be found in social work, psychology, psychiatry, and counseling professions. The academic degree is less important than whether the therapist is specially trained to heal the sexual repercussions of sexual abuse. See the list of organizations and programs in the Resources section.
For information on sexual abuse treatment and sex therapy, and for advice on how to find a therapist, you may want to read chapter 11, “Getting Professional Help,” in Incest and Sexuality by Wendy Maltz and Beverly Holman.
