Diagnostic Test

The diagnostic test in this chapter presents questions in all the subject areas tested on the most widely used nursing school entrance exams. The questions are in the multiple-choice format that you will encounter on the actual exam. They have also been designed to match the actual exams in degree of difficulty. Answer explanations for every question are provided at the end of the test.

This test gives you a very good idea of what you will face on test day. It is called a diagnostic test because it helps you “diagnose” how well prepared you are right now for the real exam and what subjects you need to review and study.

This test includes an answer sheet that you may want to remove from the book. Use this sheet to mark your answers. When you are finished with the test, carefully read the answer explanations, especially for any questions that you answered incorrectly. Pinpoint your weak areas by determining the topics in which you made the most errors. This knowledge helps you focus your study as you work your way through the subject review chapters in this book.

This test helps you gauge your test readiness if you treat it as an actual examination. Here are some hints on how to take the test under conditions similar to those of the actual exam:

•   Find a time when you will not be interrupted.

•   Complete the test in one session, following the suggested time limits.

•   If you run out of time on any section, take note of where you ended when time ran out. This will help you determine if you need to speed up your pacing.
