Without romanticizing pain, I say that only a heart of flesh can feel. When we stop perceiving pain, we distance ourselves from what makes us human, building a wall between what we and the world feel. It separates us from our most beautiful virtues: empathy and mercy. Completely shutting yourself off turns you into someone who punishes without remorse, boasts of not suffering, and lacks the ability to be moved by anything. You applaud your coldness and take pride in it.
In this first step you’ve come across your shortcomings and limitations. I know you’ve also evaluated your strengths, but we’ve focused on the former. That’s what self-reflection is all about, but we shouldn’t dwell on what causes pain.
Punishing yourself will not solve your problems. On the other hand, accepting and acknowledging yourself, and correcting your mistakes, will be your greatest reward. Disrupt your anger without taking it out on anyone. I hope you learn to manage it, not by denying it but by defusing it. Sadness looks back, worry looks around, but faith pushes us to look up. That’s why there’s something beautiful in Jesus’s example. He always taught us how to face pain, not how to avoid it.
I know that suffering and doubts will make you wonder, What if I fail? What if I don’t make it? What if I don’t get up? But God has a habit of choosing the excluded, the discarded, the forgotten, to fill them with greatness, without consulting anyone. So forget all that others have foreshadowed about you. Free yourself from the chains, the expectations, your innermost and private circle. That is healing, which doesn’t always mean scars disappear or pain ceases. True fortune lies in not allowing them to control your life. This is the art of wearing your battle wounds well.
Peace will not come when you have everything under absolute control, it will come when you give up having absolute control over everything. The nirvana where we can be perfect doesn’t exist. To believe oneself infallible is to deny reality. We must make mistakes and take the next step. If you haven’t made a mistake in a long time, you’re doing things poorly. You will be dying in place while others will be at the forefront of trying, of expanding in the attempt or in the misstep, because you have to be arrogant to expect to come out on top in pristine conditions. Expecting life to be a thrilling adventure from which we will emerge unscathed isn’t funny, it’s pathetic.
Every tragedy is an invitation to be reborn. To be reborn as many times as necessary and as many times as we can. There is room for many lives in one life. In a single day, we can determine a new existence. To intervene, to transform, to reinterpret, to eclipse… all these actions are possible when you don’t want to miss anything in your life. There are still skies and seas to cross. We can always rewrite our biography.
HAPPINESS IS A SOPHISTICATED STATE OF DEEP SACRIFICE.
So much wasted talent because of doubts. Throw them away or stomp on them! Otherwise, who can guarantee your success? No one. To be paralyzed is much worse than to fail. Our virtues, talents, gifts wither in hesitation. The hows of life will appear when the dawn of courage dissipates the fog of doubt. Take the plunge! What an amazing moment when you say, “I’m going to walk!” Creativity is only born when certainties end.
