Significance

[Jesus said,] “What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. . . . So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

MATTHEW 10:29, 31

Deep within every human heart lies a hunger for significance. We want our lives to count, to make a difference, to be worth something. Yet many people carry deep feelings of insignificance. Their lives are dominated not by their abilities but by their inabilities. Everywhere they look they see others who appear more successful or gifted. The Bible, however, says that every person has great value. You are significant not because of anything you can accomplish on your own, but because God loves you and promises that you are valuable to him.
