Blooper Reel

Six Weeks Earlier

La Belle Aurore Conference Room

Camille glanced back at Teresa, aiming the camera. “Are we ready yet?” asked Camille.

Teresa adjusted the lights and gave her a thumbs up. Camille turned around to face Glorb-O, Mag-R, and Commander Pinky sitting in front of her.

Nervous and tense, it was Camille’s very first interview in the Morgen household, and her first ever with non-humans. She was overjoyed to have the opportunity, and she did not want to fuck it up. This was going to be on every news channel in the world when she was allowed to air it, and she wanted to look like a professional and thoughtful journalist. So, to prepare, the night before, after rereading Wyatt’s book, her and Teresa went over every question Camille could possibly ask.

Teresa counted down, “trois, deux, un…” and Camille began the interview.

“Prince Glorb-O,” said Camille, “the number one question that will be on every person’s mind when your presence is announced is why have the Lesbians come to Earth? So why are you here, Prince Glorb-O?”

“The answer is simple and right here,” stated Glorb-O.

Commander Pinky leaned forward and handed a large hardbound book to Camille. Camille set the ornate book on her lap and looked at the title written in gold leaf.

To Serve Man

Camille starred downward at the book in disbelief and started to sweat. She remembered an old Twilight Zone episode that she had watched years earlier and looked up at the three alien beings grinning hungrily at her.

“Well, aren’t you going to open it?” growled commander Pinky licking her chops.

Camille gulped and began to unhinge the clasps on the side. By the time she got to the third and last clasp, her hand shook slightly. Slowly, she pulled down the catch.

Suddenly, the book jumped open and Camille shrieked when a dozen long springy paper snakes leaped into the air in front of her.

Glorb-O, Mag-R, and Commander Pinky laughed hilariously along with Teresa in back of her.

Camille, a little unnerved, suddenly realized that it was all just a practical joke, and she slowly joined in and laughed along.

“Well, it’s good to know,” said Camille with a long sigh. “That, at least, corny humor is universal.”

It was at that moment…

…that Arby appeared on the coffee table and winked at Camille.

“Hey, baby,” he asked, shaking his tail feathers at her. “Have you ever taken a walk on the wild side with someone outside your DNA pool?”

Camille turned to Teresa standing behind her. “Please tell me you brought a cookbook.”
