ST. GERMAIN COCKTAIL

Floral, effervescent, citrus

Pair this elegant Champagne drink with light fare, like tea sandwiches, sushi, or a fruit salad.

The St. Germain cocktail is a modern classic that appeared when elderflower liqueur hit the market in 2007. It immediately became widespread in cocktail bars throughout the country, and incited renewed interest in liqueurs generally. Elderflower now appears in a number of cocktails as a sweet and floral alternative to simple syrup, giving lift to otherwise bitter or blasé drinks.

1½ ounces (45 ml) St. Germain

2 ounces (60 ml) Champagne (or crémant)

    Club soda, to top off

    Lemon twist, for garnish

Pour St. Germain and Champagne in a wine glass or highball glass with ice and stir. Top with soda and garnish with a lemon twist in the glass.
