Playwright’s Biography

ROSEMARY JOHNS graduated in drama from Manchester University and U.C.R (U.S.A). In 2013 she was shortlisted for The Griffin Playwriting Award with The Birthday Book of Death. Rosemary has been nurtured as a playwright by La Mama with productions such as Black Box 149 (Currency Press 2012, VCE Drama Studies) selected for the Riksteatern Conference in Stockholm Sweden, 2012. Carrying Shoes Into The Unknown (Currency Press 2006), Contemporary Monologues for Young Men and Women: Volume 2, (LAMDA, Oberon Press UK 2007) selected for VCE Theatre Studies and Monologue Studies. At the Centre of Light, developed in La Mama Explorations 2007, was presented at the 8th International Women Playwrights’ Conference in Mumbai, 2009. It has been commercially produced at 12th Night Theatre Brisbane in 2010, with an extract published in Voices of Diversity U.S.A 2013.
