RICHARD HENRY GEOHEGAN
Crippled shortly after birth, Richard struggled to lead a normal life after graduating with honors from Oxford. A brilliant linguist, in 1903 he moved to Valdez and then Fairbanks to work for Alaska’s federal judge, James Wickersham, and finally found his niche. Attracted to the red lights of the restricted district, he eventually married in.
