Geasa: An obligation

Spancil: A rope used to hobble an animal, especially a horse or cow

Firkin: A measure of butter, somewhere around 25kg

Tuatha De Danaan: People of the goddess Danu, a particularly gifted race, with powers to influence the elements; one of a series of races who settled in Ireland. When the Milesians came, the Tuatha De Danaans agreed to settle within the hollow hills, and later shrank in the people’s imaginations to become the ‘Little People’ or the Sidhe.
