APPLE PIE OAT BARS

MAKES 12 MEDIUM BARS.

Let’s go apple picking! These spiced apple bars make great snacks to share, and can also be used as a tasty crumbled layer when stuffing Kongs. Gotta love a versatile treat.

2 small apples

3 cups rolled oats

2 teaspoons cinnamon

¼ cup applesauce

¼ cup honey

1–2 tablespoons warm water

1. Preheat oven to 180°C / 350°F. Line an 11 x 7 x 2" pan with baking paper.

2. Peel and core both apples, ensuring all seeds are removed. Finely dice apple in small cubes (approximately ¼ x ¼ inch).

3. Combine diced apple, oats, and cinnamon in a large bowl.

4. Combine applesauce, honey, and water.

5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

6. Firmly press the mixture into lined baking pan.

7. Bake for 40 minutes or until crisp.

8. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely in pan.

9. Slice into bite-sized bars and serve.

HANDY HINT: Does your pup prefer their Oat Bars chewy rather than crunchy? Simply remove them from the oven 5 minutes earlier!

APPLES: As well as being a good source of dietary fiber and vitamin C, apples contain omega-3 fatty acids that have been known to help to control skin allergies.
