THE NEXT MORNING
THE NILE EGYPTIAN MUSEUM, FREMONT, CA
––––––––
BEFORE SELENE COULD examine the table, the room was flooded with light. She heard someone enter the room and hurriedly hid behind one of the racks. She found a small area she could peer out from as a woman entered the middle of the room.
Selene observed that each of the oblong devices hanging over the various tables were the source of the light. Fascinating she thought. These would be very nice to have in the palace instead of the oil lamps they would fill daily and light. However, she noted there was no fragrance associated with the new light source. That was a little disappointing. Selene intently watched as the women approached the table. She studied her every move as she tried to figure out what was happening before her eyes. The lady looked up from the table as if she knew Selene was there. Selene froze. But the lady went right about her business as she was very focused on what she was working on.
In short order the woman went over to another table and continued to perform various tasks. Sliding something into a bag. As quickly as the woman came in the room, she left. Selene took a deep breath.
As Selene went to step out from behind the shelfs, she thought she heard her name.
“Selene, is that you?” She wasn’t sure if she heard that correctly.
It sounded like a whisper from a fathom ghost. As she continues to move out, she hears it again. This time it was clear. The voice came from over her right shoulder. She spun around on her heels. There stood Seti.
“Seti? Is that you?” she inquired as she examined what was more of a paranormal persona than an actual man. Seti nodded yes and began to move towards her.
Keeping her eyes trained on him she asked “What is going on? Where are we?”
Seti gave a shake of his head “I am not sure.”
“I am comforted in seeing you.” Though she was joyous in seeing him, she masked her true feelings of frustration at the lack of control of a situation she knew nothing about. “How long have you been here?”
He found himself unsure on how to answer the question since time seems to no longer be relevant to him.
“I am not sure. What I do know is that they cannot see me.”
“They can’t see you?” she quipped.
Seti laughed a little. “No, They can’t. I am guessing they can’t see you either. No use in hiding behind these boxes.”
“Why would you say that?”
“Have you seen yourself? I can see through you like you can see through me.”
Selene was stunned by this declaration. Looking down swiftly she notices that her legs and feet were transparent just as Seti seem to appear. Slowly she raised her head and gazed at him with a deep look of confusion.
