Ming-Yue Song
Ming-Yue stood at the entrance of an abandoned coal mine. She leaned against the edge of the condemned opening as several circle members finished ripping away the remains of the warnings and wooden barriers, allowing the group to enter with ease.
The air within was thick with the stench of death and decay. The darkness of the mine had been seeping out into the world beyond its wall, spreading a vile aura that was palpable to all that came close. Ming-Yue stood tall against it as several other circle members shivered against the unnatural cold that leaked out. She watched her sister starting several fires on quickly made torches and small campfires. It made the other comfortable, even though the cold seeped through everything. The cold bit through her magically charmed clothing, chilling her to the bones. She pulled her coat tighter around her body and surveyed the scene before her.
The windy, narrow manufactured entrance, broken tracks where coal mine carts traveled in and out of the complex system. These would be the ways throughout the cave system. Ming-Yue could feel others already roaming inside, minions captured or willing; she did not know of Bù Wěndìng de Jūmín. They would have similar problems here as with the last creature, humans still working with the monsters. The circle members would handle the humans and keep them off the twins so they could deal with the actual threat, The Volatile Dweller. It would be dug deep within the caves, latched on to rock and earth.
Taking a deep breath, she signaled to her comrades to follow. The group began to descend into the depths of the caverns in search of Bù Wěndìng de Jūmín. It didn't take long for the flashlights to start flickering from the unnatural energies of the monster that lurked within. It messed with technology; the torches held only the wind breezing through and flashed the fire.
Ming-Yue, with her twin Rayne, led the group along the rocky paths. She felt the earth below her, feeling the taint pulsing within the earth itself. It pained her to feel this ichor trailing throughout the cave system, branching its evil and sucking through the ley line.
This creature had been on the ley line longer. It felt darker here on the energy line. Thicker and murkier through the energy field. Ming-Yue might be unable to attach to it quickly and use its energy without it pouring through her. They continued searching for the minions and creatures through the winding pathways, descending deeper into the mine. The air grew colder, and the darkness more oppressive. They could hear the repetitive sound of water dripping and the distant echoes of their footsteps. Ming-Yue's heart thudded in her chest.
They progressed further into the mine; the darkness began to solidify around them. The air was thicker with the cloying stench of death and decay. The group wandered cautiously, step by step, navigating the maze of tunnels and descending into the eerie depths of the earth. Ming-Yue's senses heightened. She felt the presence of Bù Wěndìng de Jūmín looming closer and closer. It was there, just beyond her reach, hidden in the shadows.
Rayne kept close to her, the flickering light from her hand with the ball of fire casting strange shadows on the tunnel's walls. She walked with a swift grace, her magic pulsing through the air. Ming-Yue knew that her sister was ready for a fight, prepared to attempt to take on the creature. Ming-Yue concurred to fight, even with the weight of the darkness pressing down on them. The need to be careful was part of her training; Bù Wěndìng de Jūmín was a vicious monster, far more dangerous than Nián Lǎ o de Mèilì Zhě . There, she had the help of the ley line. Here, Ming-Yue was still empowered with the magic from the old magics, which would have to be enough.
Her twin paused, staring up at the walls. Ming-Yue glanced up to see the strange markings etched into them. The symbols were unfamiliar, but she could sense they were there on purpose. They were freshly made, done by human hands. The words were ancient and powerful, pulsing with magic as they approached The Volatile Dweller.
Ming-Yue could feel the creature's presence lurking ahead of them. The cave walls began to shake and tremble. They drew closer. The air grew thick with the smell of rank-decayed meat and sulfur. The temperature dropped again, freezing the sweat on Ming-Yue's brow, and her heart raced with the preparation for battle pulsing through her.
Several humans came rushing at them, and the circle members ran past Ming-Yue and Rayne to stop them. They were allowing the twins to push their way past to finish heading toward Bù Wěndìng de Jūmín .
Rayne rushed forward, lighting up the area with fire.
They turned several corners, deeper into the mine. They finally turned down into a shaft where the creature hung. The grotesque mass hung through the massive shaft, clinging through the mine. Slime and ichor stretched throughout the area, and long, spindly limbs were everywhere. It could expand its bulbous mass to situate its mass throughout the shaft and cavern. Several of the razor-sharp claws scraped against the rock as they approached. Its multiple eyes latched on the pair, gleaming through the pale intelligence flickering through the rainbow hues as it watched them enter space. Several gapping maws opened; the shark teeth opened with acid-green drool dripping from its fangs. Ming-Yue stopped at the entrance as Rayne rushed forward.
Flames exploded from Rayne, hitting several tendrils and claws roaming on the cavern floor. Ming-Yue reached for the earth and connected; the vile corruption flowed deep in this part of the cavern. All of the earth fought back and roared against her with its evil darkness sucking against her. Its creature hold upon the area was too strong. Ming-Yue dropped her attempt to wrestle the earth from Bù Wěndìng de Jūmín .
Ming-Yue began to weave through the power given to her from the land itself. Bringing earth from beyond and water to start knitting the net. The creature would be harder to pull out of this cavern. It was deeper into the system; the net would have to be tighter woven, and she started the spell now.
